OREC Scholarship Competition

Congratulations to our 2013 winners

In our traditional academic competition, URE selects one young man and one young woman as nominees to the OREC (Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives) statewide scholarship competition. This competition recognizes students for their classroom achievements along with their contributions to the community and their ability to speak in front of a panel of judges.

THIS YEAR – Winners of the URE nomination will receive $1,500 each in addition to the opportunity to compete for the OREC scholarships. At the state level, our nominees will compete against nominees of other Ohio electric Cooperatives for fourteen scholarship ranging from 1st place = $3,000 to 7th place =$1,340.

The application for this scholarship can be download and filled out. In order to be considered for the scholarship, an application must be returned to the URE office by FEBRUARY 11, 2013.

 Touchstone Energy Achievement Scholarship

Congratulations to our 2013 winner from Fairbanks high school:

Cameron Sadler

The Touchstone Energy Achievement Scholarship was added to our program to recognize those students who have overcome adversity in life.

Students who have overcome obstacles to achieve success and who exhibit the Touchstone Core Values will be selected for this award. Touchstone’s Core Values are: Accountability, Integrity, Innovation and Commitment to the Community. The scholarship application materials explain this in detail.

URE will award a nominee to the statewide competition with $750. This nominee will go on to compete for one of four scholarships of $1,750.

The application for this scholarship can be download and filled out. Application must be returned to the URE office by FEBRUARY 11, 2013 in order to be considered for the scholarship.
