Union Rural Electric (URE) is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric distribution cooperative located in Marysville, Ohio.
A message from President/CEO Roger Yoder to URE Members:
URE provides a variety of products and services to nearly 8,000 residential and commercial members of Union County, Ohio.
URE is one of 25 energy cooperatives within the state of Ohio. It was founded by rural citizens on August 8, 1935. This followed the passing of the Rural Electrification Act which made available low-interest loans to any corporation that would attempt the task of serving rural areas.
We have continued to grow and prosper throughout the years as our communities have expanded. Now we provide services to a variety of residents and businesses, with that number growing every year.
“Our mission is to make a difference in our community by delivering safe and reliable energy to our members at fair prices”
Why We’re Different
Union Rural Electric Cooperative is member-owned and not-for-profit. That means any revenue above expenses is eventually returned to the member in the form of capital credit payments. We are committed to providing the best possible service at the lowest possible cost.
We take pride in our cooperative – a grassroots system of service started by pioneers like those who settled this area. Keeping the cost of electricity affordable helps to keep local businesses competitive, while preserving our rural heritage and standard of living.
