Residential Rates

Electric Rates

The rate you pay for electricity is based on the type of service you receive. The bill is made up of 3 parts:

  • Generation
  • Transmission
  • Distribution Services (including State Excise Tax)
Single Phase Service

Availability

This rate schedule is applicable to all customers receiving single-phase service from the Cooperative for all uses of electric power and energy metered through one meter without demand metering, subject to the Cooperative’s rules and regulations.

Type of Service

Single-phase, 60 hertz, 120/240 volts.

Monthly Rate

Generation Service

  • Energy Charge - All kilowatt-hours (kWh) $0.03630 per kWh

Transmission Service

  • $0.02300 per kWh

Distribution Services

  • Base Charge $20
  • Energy Charge
    • First 1,000 kWh $0.0432 per kWh
    • Over 1,000 kWh $0.0245 per kWh

Monthly Minimum Charge

The monthly minimum charge for Distribution Services component of the above monthly rate shall be $35.

Wholesale Fuel Cost Adjustment

In addition to the above Generation and Transmission Service Energy Charge, the Customer will be billed a wholesale fuel cost adjustment in accordance with Schedule FCA.

Wholesale Power Cost Adjustment

Whenever the wholesale power rate increases or decreases above or below the current applicable Buckeye Power, Inc. wholesale rate schedule, the Cooperative may increase or decrease the Generation and Transmission Service Energy Charge by an amount sufficient to recover such change in its wholesale power cost.

Transmission Service Adjustment

Whenever the wholesale transmission costs from Buckeye Power increase or decrease above or below an amount recoverable by the current applicable Union Rural Electric (URE) Transmission Service rate, the Cooperative may increase or decrease the Transmission Service rate by an amount sufficient to recover the change in its transmission costs from Buckeye Power.

Tax Provision

All non-federal government and non-exempt Customers served hereunder shall be assessed and billed an energy excise tax in accordance with Schedule EET. The Customer shall also pay in addition to all other amounts provided herein any other sales, use, franchise, gross receipts, utility, excise, or other tax now or hereafter applicable to the service rendered hereunder or imposed on the Cooperative as a result of such service; provided, however, that no such tax shall be included in the monthly charge if the Customer has furnished to the Cooperative satisfactory evidence of the Cooperative’s exemption from liability for such tax.

Load Control Switch

The Cooperative may install load control switches on qualifying appliances as part of the Cooperative’s load management program. The Customer shall receive benefits under the Cooperative’s program provided they meet the eligibility requirements.

Terms of Payment

The above rates are net. If the total amount as computed above is not paid in accordance with the monthly statement rendered, then the net bill will be increased by 5%.

Wholesale Fuel Cost Adjustment

The rates of the Cooperative shall be increased or decreased in accordance with the following formula:

The amount charged for each kilowatt-hour (kWh) of energy sold by the Cooperative, excluding sales to customers billed under Rate Schedule LPS and Rate Schedule H-18, shall be increased or decreased by an amount equal to:

F = B x 1/1–L

Whereas:

F = Monthly fuel cost adjustment of the Cooperative in cents per kWh.
B = Monthly wholesale fuel adjustment (cents/kWh) billed by Buckeye Power, Inc.
L = System line losses, excluding sales billed under Rate Schedule LPS and Rate Schedule H-18, expressed as a decimal fraction.

Transmission Service Adjustment –  Whenever the wholesale transmission costs from Buckeye Power increase or decrease above or below an amount recoverable by the current applicable URE Transmission Service rate, the Cooperative may increase or decrease the Transmission Service rate by an amount sufficient to recover the change in its transmission costs from Buckeye Power. The current rate is: 0.02568 (updated 3/2023)

Natural Gas Rates

As of March 2023 the total current Rate 20 for natural gas is: $1.026820 per 100 cubic feet (Ccf). (updated 3/2023)

Small General Service

Applicability

Applicable in all designated territories served by the Cooperative.

Availability

Available to all customers provided that Customer consumes less than 300 Mcf per year between September 1 and August 31. Annual consumption for customers served hereunder will be reviewed each August 31st.

Small General Service Sales Rate

Wholesale Cost of Gas

Shall be charged and shall include all monthly costs for the commodity, transmission, firm capacity, and ancillary services required for the delivery of gas to the distribution system.

Distribution Service Charge

All gas consumed per account per month of $0.350 per 100 cubic feet.

Customer Charge

A “Customer Charge” of $20 per account per month, regardless of gas consumed.

An “account” includes all gas consumption which (1) is consumed by the same individual, governmental or corporate entity, including affiliates and subsidiaries, and (2) occurs on property which is either contiguous or is separated by no more than the width of a public or private right-of-way.

Monthly Minimum Distribution Service Charge

The monthly minimum charge for Distribution Service shall be the Customer Charge.

Late Payment Charge

Any current bill not paid within 15 working days of the mailing of the bill shall be subject to a late payment charge of 5% of the total bill.

Service Reestablishment Charge

If service under this rate schedule is discontinued at the request of the customer, the Cooperative shall not be under any obligation to resume service to the same customer to the same premises until the customer has made payment of an amount equal to the monthly customer charge for each month of the intervening period, but not to exceed 8 months.

Tax Provision

The foregoing rates do not include any amount for any tax now in effect or which hereafter be levied by the State of Ohio, or any political subdivision, on the volume delivered to or the revenue received from the sale of gas to the ultimate customer. It is hereby provided, therefore, that the amount of all such taxes imposed by the State of Ohio or any political subdivision, shall be added to the amount of each monthly bill as determined pursuant to the rates and charges hereinabove set forth.

Medium General Service

Applicability

Available to all customers provided that Customer consumes at least 300 Mcf per year between September 1 and August 31. Annual consumption for customers served hereunder will be reviewed each August 31st.

Medium General Service Sales Rate

Wholesale Cost of Gas

Shall be charged and shall include all monthly costs for the commodity, transmission, firm capacity, and ancillary services required for the delivery of gas to the distribution system.

Distribution Service Charge

First 25,000 cubic feet of gas consumed per account per month of $0.350 per 100 cubic feet.

Over 25,000 cubic feet of gas consumed per account shall be at the monthly DSC rate less $0.02 per 100 cubic feet.

Customer Charge

A “Customer Charge” $25 per account per month, regardless of gas consumed. An “account” includes all gas consumption which (1) is consumed by the same individual, governmental or corporate entity, including affiliates and subsidiaries, and (2) occurs on property which is either contiguous or is separated by no more than the width of a public or private right-of-way. The Cooperative may individually negotiate the rates for service to accounts under this rate schedule by separate contract.

Monthly Minimum Distribution Service Charge

The monthly minimum charge for Distribution Service shall be the Customer Charge.

Late Payment Charge

Any current bill not paid within 15 working days of the mailing of the bill shall be subject to a late payment charge 5% of the total bill.

Service Reestablishment Charge

If service under this rate schedule is discontinued at the request of the customer, the Cooperative shall not be under any obligation to resume service to the same customer to the same premises until the customer has made payment of an amount equal to the monthly customer charge for each month of the intervening period, but not to exceed 8 months.

Three Phase General Service

Availability

This rate schedule is applicable to customers served by the Cooperative at a single point of delivery requiring three phase service where the monthly electric power requirements do not exceed 1,500 kW, in accordance with the Cooperative’s rules and regulations and where the Customer has executed a written agreement for electric service with the. Cooperative.

Type of Service

Three phase, 60 hertz, at the Cooperative’s standard secondary voltages.

Demand Charge

  • All kilowatts of Billing Demand - $5.45 per kW

Energy Charge

  • All kilowatt-hours - $0.02361 per kWh

Transmission Service

  • All kilowatts of Billing Demand - $7.00 per kW

Distribution Services

Base Charge

  • 0 to 99 KVA $75
  • 100 to 299 KVA $100
  • 300 to 749 KVA $125
  • 750 to 1499 KVA $150

Demand Charge - The greater of:

  • All kilowatts of Billing Demand, or - $2.50 per kW
  • All kilowatts of Standby Contract Demand - $2.50 per kW

Energy Charge

  • All kilowatt-hours - $0.01650 per kWh

Determination of Billing Demand

The Billing Demand shall be the maximum kilowatt demand established by the Customer for any period of 15 consecutive minutes during the month for which the bill is rendered.

Standby Contract Demand

Where the Customer has electric generating facilities with a nameplate rating of at least 100 kW, but not more than 1,500 kW, installed on its premises and connected in parallel with the Power Company’s electric distribution system in accordance with an executed Agreement for Interconnection and Parallel Operation, the Power Company may provide standby and parallel operation service pursuant to the provisions of that agreement and the executed Agreement for Standby and Parallel Electric Service between the Power Company and the Customer.

In such case, a Standby Contract Demand shall be established, as mutually agreed to by the Power Company and the Customer. However, should the Customer’s Billing Demand as determined by the above provision ever exceed the current Standby Contract Demand, the Standby Contract Demand shall be increased by such excess demand for the current and future billing periods. The Standby Contract Demand may be changed by mutual agreement; provided, however, in no case shall the Standby Contract Demand be reduced below the Customer’s highest Billing Demand established during the preceding eleven billing months.

Power Factor Adjustment

The Customer agrees to maintain unity power factor as nearly as practicable. Where there is an indication of a power factor of less than 92.5% lagging, the Power Company may, at its option, install such equipment on its system as it deems necessary to correct the Customer’s power factor to an acceptable level and the Power Company shall bill the Customer the monthly facilities charge equal to 1.55% of the installed cost of such equipment.

Monthly Minimum Charges

The monthly minimum charge shall be the higher of the following charges plus any energy charge, fuel cost adjustment, wholesale power cost adjustment, and tax provision charges:

  • The monthly Base charge plus the sum of the Generation and Transmission Service and Distribution Services-Demand Charges.
  • The monthly minimum charge specified in the agreement for electric service.

Wholesale Fuel Cost Adjustment

In addition to the above Generation and Transmission Service Energy Charge, the Customer will be billed a wholesale fuel cost adjustment in accordance with Schedule FCA.

Whenever the wholesale power rate increases or decreases above or below the current applicable Buckeye Power, Inc. wholesale rate schedule, the Cooperative may increase or decrease the Generation and Transmission Service Energy Charge by an amount sufficient to recover such change in its wholesale power cost.

Whenever the wholesale transmission costs from Buckeye Power increase or decrease above or below an amount recoverable by the current applicable URE Transmission Service rate, the Cooperative may increase or decrease the Transmission Service rate by an amount sufficient to recover the change in its transmission costs from Buckeye Power.

Delivery Point

Unless otherwise specified in the agreement for electric service, the delivery point shall be the metering point when service is furnished at secondary voltage, or at the point of attachment of the Cooperative’s primary line to the Customer’s primary facilities if service is furnished at primary distribution voltage.

Primary Service

If service is furnished at the Cooperative’s primary distribution voltage, a discount of 4% shall apply to the demand and energy charges specified in this schedule. The Cooperative may meter at secondary voltage and adjust to primary metering by adding the estimated transformer losses to the metered kilowatt-hours and kilowatt demand. All wiring, poles, lines and other equipment (except metering equipment) on the load side of the delivery point shall be owned and maintained by the Customer.

Terms of Payment

The above rates are net. If the total amount as computed above is not paid in accordance with the monthly statement rendered, then the net bill will be increased by 5%.

Single-phase

Typically for small businesses or hobby barns.

Three-phase services

Broken out into 4 classes of service:

  • Rate 20- small offices/warehouses, retail (transformer capacity 1 to 99 kilovolt-ampere [kVa])
  • Rate 21 – larger office/warehouse space (transformer capacity 100 to 299 kVa)
  • Rate 22 – distribution center/manufacturing, retail (transformer capacity 300 to 749 kVa)
  • Rate 23 – manufacturing, large retail (transformer capacity 750 to 1,499 kVa)

Outdoor Lighting Rates

The Outdoor Lighting (effective Aug. 2018) schedule has the applicable rates listed for streetlight and private outdoor lighting services.

Outdoor Lighting Service

Available at locations on the Cooperative’s electric distribution system in accordance with the Cooperative’s Terms and Conditions, rules and regulations and the Member has executed a written contract for outdoor lighting service with the Cooperative.

A. Private Lighting

Private Lighting shall be classified as outdoor lighting requested by a private residential or business member.

Monthly Rate

Mercury Vapor lighting is no longer offered for installation or repair by the Cooperative due to environmental regulations. Mercury Vapor lights will be replaced with 40-Watt Evluma fixtures.

B. Street Lighting

Street Lighting shall be classified as outdoor lighting requested by a government authority such as the State, County, Township or Municipality for purposes of roadway and intersection lighting.

Street lighting service will be provided subject to the Member paying a nonrefundable contribution-in-aid of construction equal to the total installed cost of the fixtures, poles, conductor and other equipment furnished by the Cooperative to provide the requested street lighting service:

The outdoor lighting rate is subject to the following conditions of service:

  • Bracket-mounted luminaires will be installed only on Cooperative owned poles or structures.
  • The Cooperative will replace burned out lamps and will maintain the luminaires during regular working hours as soon as practicable following notification by the Customer of the necessity

Tax Provisions

The Customer shall pay in addition to all other amounts provided herein any sales, use, franchise, gross receipts, utility, excise, or other tax now or hereafter applicable to the service rendered hereunder or imposed on the Cooperative as a result of such service; provided, however, that no such tax shall be included in the monthly charge if the Customer has furnished to the Cooperative satisfactory evidence of the Cooperative’s exemption from liability for such tax.

Net Metering Rates

The rate for electric service and the rate used to calculate any monthly billing credits not to exceed the Member’s electric requirements on a monthly basis, shall be the Cooperative’s Single Phase Service Rate or Three Phase General Service Rate, as applicable, except for the monthly Distribution Service Minimum Charge. The rate used to calculate any monthly billing credits for electric energy production of the Member’s electric generating facility above the Member’s electric energy usage in any month shall be Buckeye’s avoided cost rate.

An “account” includes all gas consumption which (1) is consumed by the same individual, governmental or corporate entity, including affiliates and subsidiaries, and (2) occurs on property which is either contiguous or is separated by no more than the width of a public or private right-of-way. The Cooperative may individually negotiate the rates for service to accounts under this rate schedule by separate contract.

Monthly Minimum Distribution Service Charge

The monthly minimum charge for Distribution Service shall be the Customer Charge.

Late Payment Charge

Any current bill not paid within 15 working days of the mailing of the bill shall be subject to a late payment charge 5% of the total bill.

Service Reestablishment Charge

If service under this rate schedule is discontinued at the request of the customer, the Cooperative shall not be under any obligation to resume service to the same customer to the same premises until the customer has made payment of an amount equal to the monthly customer charge for each month of the intervening period, but not to exceed 8 months.

Tax Provision

The foregoing rates do not include any amount for any tax now in effect or which hereafter be levied by the State of Ohio, or any political subdivision, on the volume delivered to or the revenue received from the sale of gas to the ultimate customer. It is hereby provided, therefore, that the amount of all such taxes imposed by the State of Ohio or any political subdivision, shall be added to the amount of each monthly bill as determined pursuant to the rates and charges herein above set forth.

Remember both the electric fuel cost and the fuel cost for natural gas change monthly so monthly rates are subject to fluctuation.
