This past December, Union Rural Electric Cooperative (URE) employees embraced the holiday spirit, making a significant impact both locally and internationally. The team raised a total of $9,173, which was donated to 2 important causes, Project Ohio and the United Way of Union County. They also contributed an impressive 767 pounds of food to the Marysville Food Pantry, helping to ensure local families had meals during the holiday season.
By supporting organizations like the United Way of Union County, URE employees are strengthening our local community and providing vital resources to families, friends, and neighbors who need them most.
In January, lineworkers from Ohio’s electric cooperatives traveled to a rural village in Guatemala as part of Project Ohio. While there, they worked to bring electricity to local homes for the very first time. Funds raised by URE employees helped provide essential items for the village’s children, including clothing, shoes, wheelchairs, and school supplies — making a lasting difference in their lives. Funds were also used to provide a septic tank, water filter, hot plates, and other personal items.
The generosity of URE’s team reflects the cooperative spirit, demonstrating how working together can make a meaningful difference for those in need.
