This week, we urge electric co-op members to keep an eye our for peak alerts from their co-op and, when safely possible, to reduce their electricity usage early in the morning and late at night when demand is highest.
Here are a few simple ways to reduce your usage:

Lower your thermostat by one or two degrees

Limit the use of space heaters and unplug them when you’re not in the room

Wait until the late morning or afternoon to do laundry or run the dishwasher
Unplug appliances and electronics you’re not currently using
By shifting your usage, you will help us relieve stress on the power grid and prevent potential energy shortfalls.
1/28/26 – A peak alert has been issued as of 8 a.m. this morning, due to cold temperatures and increased demand.
During Peak Alerts, radio-controlled switches on water heaters will go into effect for members who participate in our load management program.
We also encourage members to sign up for SmartHub to better monitor and manage their energy use. In SmartHub, you can track daily usage and even set custom alerts to get notified if your energy use rises above a certain number of kilowatt-hours.UPDATE, 9:41 A.M. – The peak alert has ended. Please be aware that another peak alert may be issued this evening. Please continue to monitor this page for further information.
