| Buckeye Power, which provides electricity to all of Ohio’s electric cooperatives, including URE, has issued a peak alert today. Please know this does NOT mean we have a shortage of electricity. It means a higher demand for electricity is expected as temperatures soar, and when demand is high, so are prices.
We are asking members to voluntarily conserve energy during times of peak demand – between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Here’s how you can help:
Members who have a radio-controlled switch on their air conditioner or electric water heater may notice that switches are periodically activated for up to 12 minutes to conserve energy during peak alerts. Making small changes during peak hours supports grid reliability and helps control long-term energy costs for you and your fellow members. More information regarding peak alerts can be found here. |
