Smart thermostat units must be installed in compliance with the National Electric Code and local or Ohio Electric Code requirements, and may be installed by member homeowner or dealer/contractor approved by the participating Cooperative.
Cooperative must verify ENERGY STAR listing through either a copy of the yellow Energy Guide label or the owner’s manual (must include ENERGY STAR logo or statement of ENERGY STAR-certification).
Cooperative must verify that the new smart thermostat is connected to the internet and ENERGY STAR certified.
Member must be homeowner of record for the residence.
Eligibility for Rebate
The building must be a residence, no commercial or industrial buildings, which uses electricity from URE
Rebate is to be paid to the Cooperative member who owns the residence, the rebate cannot be paid to a builder/dealer
Rebate is available only to members with URE supplied electric service
Conditions of Rebate
Residence must be in an area with high-speed internet
Member must upload a receipt showing an Energy Star Rated and WiFi compatible thermostat – including Manufacturer’s name and Model #
