Peak Alerts are NOT a notice of a power shortage, but a warning that the demand for electricity could set a new peak for our members. Our rates are based on the top 5 peak demand days of the year, so your efforts now can help keep rates stable.

Here’s how you can help:

Raise your thermostat by 2-5 degrees and use fans to cool your home

Turn off unnecessary lights and electronics

Shut blinds and curtains to block out heat from the sun

Run your dishwasher and do laundry before or after peak hours

Take showers and baths during off-peak hours

Charge electric vehicles before or after peak hours

Members who have a radio-controlled switch on their air conditioner or electric water heater may notice that switches are periodically activated for up to 12 minutes to conserve energy during peak alerts.
