URE is aware that some members and landowners have recently received letters from Grid Growth Ventures regarding a proposed transmission infrastructure project in Ohio.
Grid Growth Ventures is a joint venture between Transource Energy and FirstEnergy Transmission. According to the company, it was selected by PJM Interconnection, the regional organization that manages the electric grid across 13 states, including Ohio, to develop approximately 220 miles of new transmission infrastructure to support future energy needs and grid reliability.
No. This is not a URE project.
URE is not involved in the development, routing, construction, easement acquisition, landowner outreach, or management of this transmission project.
According to Grid Growth Ventures, letters were sent to property owners in areas being evaluated for potential transmission routes.
Whether or not to respond is entirely the decision of the individual member or landowner. URE is not advising members to respond or not respond to the letter.
Questions regarding property impacts, easements, compensation, project timelines, or other project-specific matters should be directed to Grid Growth Ventures using the contact information provided in the letter.
