The most wonderful time of the year
It's almost time for Christmas! What a great time! Who can help but to be excited this time of year?
I remember the thrilling anticipation of what could possibly be under that tree — and that was just last year. Seriously though, that anticipation may be more memorable than anything I actually unwrapped when I was a kid. I find it fascinating that as adults we experience a similar feeling of excitement giving a gift to someone we care about. Just like you, at Union Rural Electric Cooperative (URE) we truly enjoy giving our members something useful and relevant.
Beyond electric and natural gas service, there are other advantages to URE membership. For instance, members can sign up for SmartHub and monitor your own electric and gas usage, pay your bill, and even report an outage. This is a free tool that can be used online at the recently remodeled ure.com or on your smart device through the SmartHub app.

While helping you save money by using energy efficiently, we are trying to be efficient as well. We’ve been working hard with our generation provider, Buckeye Power, to keep generation, transmission, and distribution costs as manageable as possible. You may have read recently that electric bills are expected to continue rapidly increasing. Thanks to the foresight and planning of cooperative leaders, Ohio cooperatives like URE will see much smaller increases than those of other utilities.
Every day we strive to provide safe, reliable, and affordable energy to you. Along with that, we do what we can to improve the quality of life within our communities. Not only do our board members and employees volunteer in their local community organizations, but URE also directly supports many of those same organizations. We know that our members are better off when our communities are healthy and strong.
Through our Operation Round Up program, you help us fi ll needs in our community. We fund special projects or programs that benefi t our members and our communities, and all of the money stays local. When you “round up” your monthly bill from URE and donate to this fund, you’re making a big difference in someone’s life.
