Congratulations to Anne Twaddle on earning an additional $1,900 scholarship for her honorable mention at the Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives Children of Members Scholarship competition, held April 7.

Anne, the daughter of George and Denise Twaddle, is a senior at Marysville Early College High School. She was selected from URE scholarship recipients to represent the co-op in the statewide competition, based on her academic achievements and involvement in school and community activities.

Anne plans to attend The Ohio State University, where she will pursue a degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in biology.

This scholarship program reflects the commitment of Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives to supporting local students and investing in the future of the communities they serve. Each year, students from cooperative families across the state compete for scholarships to help them pursue higher education and career goals.

A total of 24 students, each representing one of Ohio’s electric distribution cooperatives, advanced from local competitions to the statewide contest, where $56,100 in scholarships was awarded.

Congratulations again to Anne on her impressive achievements and this well-deserved recognition.

Anniversary Milestones

In April, the URE Safety Committee hosted its annual Safety Banquet. This year, instead of a guest speaker, the operations department created multiple interactive stations for employees to visit. These stations provided hands-on learning opportunities and a closer look at the work involved in identifying and maintaining underground services, including the challenges crews face when locating and restoring outages on underground lines.

During the banquet, five URE employees were recognized for their years of service at URE, collectively representing a total of 90 years of experience.
