Scholarships & Youth Tour

Seniors from Union Rural Electric Cooperative (URE) electric member households are eligible to compete for these scholarships:

2-Year Path Scholarships

As area schools have increased programming and curriculum focused on career readiness and high-demand employment fields, URE is committed to keeping pace with the pathways today’s students are exploring. URE will award 3 scholarships based on a personal essay/career plans, contributions made to the community, a panel interview, and school and leadership activities.

4-Year Path Scholarships

College/university scholarship competition.

URE will award 3 scholarships based on academic achievement, contributions made to the community, a panel interview, and school and leadership activities.

The first-place student will be URE’s representative to the OEC (Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives) statewide scholarship competition. This competition recognizes students for their classroom achievements along with their contributions to the community and their ability to speak in front of a panel of judges.

  • Must be a son, daughter, or legal ward of a URE electric member living on the cooperative’s lines and receiving electric service from the cooperative at the time of selection.
  • Must submit an application along with grade transcripts indicating cumulative credit hours and grade-point average.
  • Must submit a letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor, principal, teacher, or community or organization advisor.
