URE Taps Aquillo For New Assignment

Union Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc. (URE) is expanding the role of Mike Aquillo to that of chief experience officer (CXO). Aquillo joined URE in 2001, and has been serving as vice president of member services since 2005. The CXO is responsible for the overall member experience, so Aquillo will be charged with influencing companywide performance beyond the traditional member services silo by leveraging best practices in process design and user experience, and making them an intrinsic part of URE’s culture.

Anthony Smith, URE President and CEO stated, “Increasing Mike’s responsibilities is in direct response to our recent strategic plan which yielded company wide initiatives in business process improvement, member engagement, and information technology management, all of which directly impact the member experience. His leadership experience and background in continuous improvement systems are a perfect fit for this expanded role. We expect to increase performance standards which will increase overall value to our members.”

Aquillo earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bowling Green State University. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin/NRECA Robert I. Kabat Management Internship Program and holds a green belt of Six Sigma Methodology certification. He currently serves on the Union County Chamber of Commerce board of trustees, the Dublin City Schools Business Advisory Council, and the Ohio Respiratory Care Board.
